This paperback book is a wonderful detailed weekly diary. The writer Wanda Morlan Eilts has kept beginning May 1987 through June 1988. Each week’s account had excitement, tensions, and sadness of trying to get the San Juan Marina (SJM)  into operation. Which, un-known to the author, that it was a temporary venture until a designated permanent place was built.

That said, however, it was very interesting to read how the marina’s success took shape. Even with the powers-that-be kept bringing disheartening news as road blocks into their progress. As one knows that not everything works together unless they believe that it will work. So Wanda, husband and employees all tried diligently to work it. But nature and other human adversaries of embezzlement, lying, and use of witchcraft attempts in which tied their hands for failures, or in this case source of success.

.None the less, I enjoyed every read of a wonderful warm account of SJM family. “Family” as Wanda referred to their employees because it was them who made it possible to go forward and succeed for year one.

Chapter Fourteen (The Circle is Completed) gives a very nice feeling about a traditional Navajo Wedding.
